Purpose of FIle-Opener The purpose of the File-Opener project is to make linux more user friendly. When first starting to use linux, I didn't know what programs to use for various tasks. This program is designed to help users decide which programs to use for the tasks that they would like their computer to perform. Release of file-opener-0.2.0-pre1 - 2004-05-05 The project is coming along quite nicely. File associations are now read from files after the program is running. It only reads the file that it needs for determining which program to use. See the README for more information about how to set it up. A HOWTO will be coming soon for installing the program and using it from command line. We Have Logo - 2004-05-05 A great logo has been designed by Azmedaj. It looks good in my opinion. A good old pocket knife can opener. New Web Look - 2004-05-04 The web page has a new look. It's actually a web page now. It will be undergoing some changes over the next couple weeks or so until I get something that I really like. First Release - 2004-04-27 The first release is available. Go grab it if you are interested in the project and you like programming or are remotely interested in programming. It is quite simple, being only one file, and easy to extend to whatever you want the associations to be.
